Senior-Buddies

Information for Senior-Buddies

Would you like to volunteer alongside your studies and pass on your experience to future students? Then you've come to the right place. We will help you to find a suitable Junior-Buddy who you can support during your studies. In addition to acquiring a volunteering certificate, you can take part in various workshops and acquire important soft skills for your professional life.

  • Support with questions and problems relating to your studies
  • Voluntary work
  • Workshops
  • Opportunity to help shape the programme and organise individual activities
  • Building a network in your own peer group
  • Personal development and acquisition of soft skills

You will get to know your buddy partners at the first event. After that, we will meet every four to six weeks for joint exchange and information events. We also offer workshops where you can learn important skills for everyday university life. Participation in three of the four workshops is compulsory. In between, you will meet up to get to know each other better and do something together. How often, when and for how long - you agree this among yourselves and can vary from person to person (but at least five meetings). It is important that you are reliable when it comes to making and keeping appointments. At the final event, we celebrate your successes together and award the Senior-Buddies their volunteer certificates.

To have your work as a Senior-Buddy certified, you and your Junior-Buddy must complete a log of hours (see right). From 60 volunteer hours, you can be issued with a volunteer certificate for your work. This includes all the time you have spent together, whether at one of our events, at a barbecue in the park, at the cinema or in the old town.
