Junior-Buddies
Information for Junior-Buddies
Are you in your 1st or 2nd semester and the first student in your family? Everything is new and you have lots of questions? Then you've come to the right place. We will help you find a suitable Senior-Buddy who will support you during your studies and provide you with advice and assistance. We also offer interesting lectures, workshops and other support to help you get off to a successful start to your studies.
- Support with questions and problems relating to your studies
- Workshops
- Opportunity to help shape the programme and organise individual activities
- Building a network in your own peer group
- Personal development and acquisition of soft skills
- Better social connections within the university
You will get to know your buddy partners at the first event. After that, we will meet every four to six weeks for joint exchange and information events. We also offer workshops where you can learn important skills for everyday university life. Participation in three of the four workshops is compulsory. In between, you will meet up to get to know each other better and do something together. How often, when and for how long - you agree this among yourselves and can vary from person to person (but at least five meetings). It is important that you are reliable when it comes to making and keeping appointments. At the final event, we celebrate your successes together and award the Senior-Buddies their volunteer certificates.
...there are major problems to overcome or advice is required?
You are not alone. If there is an issue that you cannot resolve on your own or if you have problems with each other, talk to us in the Diversity section. We will give you initial advice and, if necessary, refer you to the organisations that can provide you with specific help.
...the matching does not fit?
Please let us know in good time if you are unhappy so that we can re-match if necessary. This is fair to everyone involved.
...a buddy moves or stops studying?
Then please get in touch as soon as possible so that we can find a suitable solution as soon as possible.
