Junior-Buddies
Information for Junior-Buddies
Are you in your first or second semester and the first person in your family to go to university? Does everything feel new and is your head full of questions?
Then you’ve come to the right place: We will match you with a suitable senior buddy who will provide support and tips.
And we also offer presentations, workshops and lots of other help so you can hit the ground running when you start your studies.
- Support for all questions and problems relating to your studies
- Workshop offers
- Opportunity to establish your own peer-group network
- Personal development and acquisition of soft skills
- Better social connections at the University
You will meet your buddy partner at the first event. After that, we all meet up every four to six weeks for exchange and information events, both online and offline. We also offer workshops in which you can learn important skills for day-to-day university life. In between, you meet up with your buddy so you can get to know each other better and spend time together. You agree between you how often, when and for how long you meet (we recommend meeting up once a month). At the concluding event, we celebrate your successes, ask for your feedback and award the participation/volunteering certificates to the senior buddies. After the buddy programme, you can join the FirstGenCommunity in the FirstGenClub.
...there are big problems to deal with or further advice is needed?
You are not alone. If there’s an issue you cannot solve on your own or you have problems with each other, then please let us at the Diversity Section know. We will provide initial advice and point you to other contacts who can provide concrete support where necessary.
...you and your buddy aren’t a good match after all?
Please let us know as quickly as possible if you aren’t satisfied. We will try and organise a new match. That’s fair for everyone involved.
...a buddy moves or abandons their studies?
Please let us know as quickly as possible so we can find a suitable solution promptly.
