The focus lies on equal opportunities, facilitating participation and solidarity in studies, research and administration. One or more diversity dimensions may be involved: Age and Generation, Family Circumstance and Life Concept, Physical and Mental Abilities, Education, Inter-/Nationality and Culture, Worldview and Religion, Sex and Gender, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity.

Since 2019, the Prize has been awarded to members of the University who embody the HHU principle of “excellence through diversity”. “We want to showcase people who make a difference through their efforts – whether through special teaching methods, support for particular groups or raising awareness. Please do not hesitate to submit nominations. The award is not about major projects, but rather about individuals who put their heart and soul into improving diversity on our campus,” encourages Dr Inge Krümpelbeck, Head of the Diversity Section at HCSD.

Questions about nominations? Unsure whether a topic is suitable? You can contact Dr Inge Krümpelbeck on extension -13301 Monday to Thursday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

An independent committee comprising representatives from all status groups decides the winners. The award ceremony will take place on Sustainability Day on 10 June 2026.
