27 MayDiversityWith its Diversity Award, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU) is honouring particularly committed individuals who promote diversity and fair coexistence for the seventh time. On 27 May 2025 – Diversity Day – three of the 22 nominees were honoured in the CEDUS Open Working Space. Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Heidrun Dorgeloh gave the laudatory speech for Prof. Dr. Lena Daumann, Larissa Sieben and Elif Benli. Their actions enrich the open culture that is lived out in research, teaching, administration, technology and studies.

The Diversity Day Bazaar: On 27 May 2025, starting at 11:00 a.m., the following 12 institutions will jointly form the Diversity Bazaar and present their current projects in front of the University and State Library (ULB): Asta departments – AntiFaRaDis, HHU trainees, BBST counselling centre, ESG Düsseldorf, ESN Düsseldorf board, FBB, JUNO, KHG Düsseldorf, SBV, Section Diversity, Student Academy including Career Service and UNIVERSEH.

In addition, various activities await you throughout the campus, which you are welcome to join. The pantomime group MIME Art for Life e.V. will provide a creative supporting programme that creatively focuses on the topic of diversity and brings it to life visually. 

02 JuneDiversityIn cooperation with Literaturbüro NRW and the Institute of German Studies at HHU, a reading entitled ‘Class & Origin in Contemporary Literature with Ilija Matusko: Evaporation in the Periphery’ took place this year. In his debut, Ilija Matusko combined personal memories with sociological observations – with a keen eye for subtle differences, wit and literary punch.
